Crimewatch
(CALL 911 FIRST) SECOND, CALL OUR NEW COMMUNITY CRIMEWATCH HOTLINE TO REPORT CRIMINAL ACTIVITY
PHONE: 317-832-2442

The Bayswater HOA has an ACTIVE Crime Watch community. Why live in the far suburbs and fight traffic when our community is only 10 minutes from downtown or Mass Ave and 15 minutes from the airport. Everyone is moving back into the city to be near the excitement of downtown sporting events and the amenities and new restaurants of downtown. Don't forget we are also near the Eagle Creek Reservoir and park amenities. With only one entrance in/out and with the security initiatives of our Crimewatch committee, HOA board, and residents, we feel safe in our community day and night and we are proud to call it home.
We also have a long-term relationship with an IMPD police officer who has worked with our HOA and has provided security patrols for our community for many years.

A crime prevention tip recap of the photo illustration above:
- Ensure Windows are closed and locked, especially on the first floor.
- Limit places someone can hide. Keep shrubs less than 2 feet tall and leave 6 feet vertical space open from the ground to the branches and leaves so nobody can hide behind them. Our Bayswater HOA invested in trimming trees 5 feet from the ground to prevent hiding and being ambushed. We also had the trees trimmed from above and from the street to provide more light and open space for emergency vehicles.
- Keep Doors locked and use the deadbolt.
- Leave outside lights on at night. Our Bayswater HOA community guidelines requires that all light fixtures at the front of the garage be in working order and illuminated at night.
- Keep garage doors locked and lock interior door to the house.
- Use motion lights and security cameras. Many of our homeowners have installed security cameras or motion flood lights.
- Plant shrubs with thorns near windows and fences to deter burglary.
- Shred personal information and breakdown boxes. An empty box of an expensive item advertises what's inside your home.
- Use an USPS approved mailbox with a lock or mail checks directly from the post office.
- Keep car doors locked and remove valuables including keys, wallet, garage door openers, and firearms.
- LASTLY, IF YOU SEE CRIME TAKING PLACE OR SOMETHING SUSPICIOUS, PLEASE CALL 911.
